Where Sea, Sand & Serenity Meet
Mousuni Island is an enchanting delta island situated in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, at the confluence of the Bay of Bengal and the rivers Muriganga and Chinai. Unlike overcrowded commercial beach towns like Digha or Mandarmani, Mousuni remains a pure, untouched sanctuary free from concrete hotels, commercial malls, and blaring car horns.
The island is characterized by shifting sandbars, vast tidal mudflats teeming with red ghost crabs, lush mangrove patches, and quaint fishing hamlets where betel nut palms sway gently in the breeze. Here, life is measured not by clocks, but by the rise and fall of the ocean tide.
Why We Built Shuktara Beach Camp
Named after the glowing Morning Star (Shuktara) that guides island fishermen before sunrise, our camp was founded on a simple principle: offering genuine hospitality while preserving nature.
Eco-Conscious Tourism
We keep our footprint minimal with natural bamboo cottages, canvas tents, solar power integration, and strict plastic elimination protocols along our coastal perimeter.
Empowering Island Families
Over 90% of our team members are born and raised on Mousuni Island. Our cooks, boat coordinators, toto drivers, and caretakers directly benefit from every visitor.
Heartfelt Hospitality
We treat every guest not as a hotel client, but as a valued family member arriving at our coastal home. Warm smiles, hot food, and attentive care are guaranteed.
Essential Tips for Visiting Mousuni

Jio and Airtel have good 4G network on Baliara beach. Vodafone/Idea has patchy reception.
🧳 Pack Light
Comfortable walking sandals, light cotton clothes, sun goggles, power bank, and personal medicines.
🌊 Tide Timings
High tide brings waves right up to the sand perimeter. Low tide reveals miles of walkable sandflat.
